The living room that I have in mind starting with the ceiling should have recessed lights. This should not be just the case for the living room but through out the house including the bathrooms (with the additional vapour barrier). The reason for calling for this throughout is that it will not interfere with other fixtures with regards to a focal point.
That being said, the recessed lights should run on 2 or more different circuits in the living room/ dining room in order for the ability to have a home theatre experience. (The best way of achieving this is to bring a copy of the blue prints to a lighting/ electrical store). I presume the recessed lights should be dimmable as well to create that effect.
The television should be wall mounted and have the additional ceiling mounted speakers for a “surround sound” effect. The reason for doing so is to create a plug and go house in the event the house is rented out or sold.

Over the years the availability of the living room furniture that I have wanted has started to become a reality in North America. It has generally always been available in Asia where the cushions are separate from the structure of the furniture itself. The loveseat and the armchair are from Structube. As far as side tables are concerned, I would be using the simple but elegant side tables from Ikea called LACK.
As I am still in the idea/ inspiration phase of this project, the decision on the area rug has not been made yet. There are several places in Saskatoon where one can go and get a decent rug at a decent price. You even have the option of going to a carpet store and getting them to add an under pad in order to make it into a rug. Or if you wanted to just shop online rugs.ca has you covered.
Having a built in bookshelf and display unit at the end of the stairwell may not be a bad idea. It would give you an immediate idea of how smart or not that I am.
Designing a living room that is both functional and inviting involves a careful balance of lighting, technology, and furnishings. Recessed lighting throughout the house ensures a clean and versatile aesthetic, while dimmable circuits in the living and dining areas add flexibility for creating the perfect ambiance—whether for a movie night or a casual evening at home.
